Sophomore catcher Ernie Alvarez earned Second Team All-ACCAC Division II and All-Region I Division II honors after a stellar season for the SMCC Baseball Team in 2026. He appeared in 64 games and batted .304 with 57 runs, 62 hits, 15 doubles, 28 RBIs, 29 walks, and seven stolen bases. He had a strong run at the 2026 World Series, scoring two runs to go with a double, a walk, and a stolen base in a win over Parkland College (IL) on May 23. Alvarez then doubled with two RBIs in win over Kellogg CC (MI) on May 27, and had two hits and an RBI against Pearl River CC (MS) in the National Championship Game on May 30 at the 2026 NJCAA DII World Series.
