The South Mountain Community College women's basketball team lost 85-37 to Scottsdale CC in an ACCAC Division II contest on Wednesday. Feb. 25 at the SMCC Gym. Freshman Genesis Rios scored a season-high 17 points and made a season-high five 3-pointers to lead the Cougars in their home finale.
Rios scored all 17 of her points in the second half and was 6 of 13 from the field and 5 of 9 from downtown in 30 minutes off the bench. She added a steal and an assist.
Freshman Victoria Benito scored 10 points for SMCC, making a pair of 3-pointers. She added three assists and a block in 30 minutes.
Freshman Jaya Harris led SMCC with eight rebounds, and freshman Jayden Lynch totaled seven points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals in 26 minutes.
Freshmen Janelle Smith and Kashari Bullard posted four rebounds and a block, while freshman Saleen Rios had two points and an assist.
