SMCC Women's Volleyball Falls to Chandler-Gilbert CC on Sophomore Night

The South Mountain Community College women's volleyball team fell 3-0 (25-20, 25-13, 25-20) to Chandler-Gilbert CC in an ACCAC Division II home match on Friday, Oct. 24. Sophomore Alyssa Szymanski led the Cougars with nine kills and 10 digs, freshman Esra Bryant posted five kills, and Julia AbdelsalamAbby Kilpatrick, and Keira Allen all registered nine digs apiece on Sophomore Night. 

SMCC finished the night with 23 kills, 23 assists, seven service aces, 52 digs, and four block assists over the three sets against the Coyotes. 

Szymanski hit .348 on 23 attacks to lead the Cougar offense in the final home match of her SMCC career. She cracked 100 kills for the season during the match and enters the week with a team-high 104 in 16 contests. Her 10 digs marked the third time she has reached double-figures, and she has 97 on the season. 

Bryant hit .286 on 14 swings, and added a service ace and two digs. Freshman Isley Seabrooke posted three kills and a dig. 

Abdelsalam posted two kills and one service ace in addition to her nine digs. Kilpatrick had two block assists, an assist, and a kill in addition to her nine digs, and Allen had two assists plus her nine digs. 

Freshman Allie Encinas led SMCC with 12 assists, six digs, two service aces, and a kill. Sophomore Ailynn Solis posted five assists, four digs, and a kill.
