SMCC Women's Volleyball Falls to Yavapai College

The South Mountain Community College women's volleyball team lost 3-0 to Yavapai College in a non-conference match in Prescott, Ariz., on Saturday, Oct. 12. Freshman Isley Seabrooke led the Cougars with a season-high 10 kills and sophomore Amanda Mitan added seven kills and hit .538 as the Cougars and Roughriders battled late into each set of the contest.
After falling 25-21 in the opening frame, the Cougars forced the Roughriders into extra points in the second (28-26) and third (26-24) sets. SMCC finished with 43 kills and hit .133 on 143 attacks, adding 41 assists, three service aces, 68 digs, and 14 block assists.
Seabrooke hit .130 on 23 swings to post a season-best 10 kills. She added three digs and a block assist over the three sets. Mitan had seven kills on 13 attacks to hit .538 for the match, and also led SMCC with four block assists.
Freshman Julia Abdelsalam had six kills, 12 digs, one service ace, and one block assist. She has recorded double-figure digs in three of the Cougars' last four matches.
Freshman Talullah Johnson led the Cougars with a season-high 15 digs and added five kills, two service aces, and three block assists.
Freshman Allie Encinas tied a season high with 19 assists to lead the Cougars, adding two kills and nine digs. Sophomore Ailynn Solis recorded her first double-double of the season with 13 assists and 10 digs, and freshman Keira Allen posted 14 digs and five assists.
