Cougar Softball Posts 3-0 Shutout Win at Arizona Christian
PHOENIX ---
The South Mountain Community College softball team (12-8) defeated Arizona Christian University 3-0 in a non-conference road game on Saturday, Feb. 28. In the circle, sophomores Sadie Su'a and Alyssa Jemio teamed up to limit the Firestorm to three hits and no runs over seven innings. Su'a added a pair of hits, including a triple, and she, sophomore Kaeliann Glass, and sophomore Tazia Blake recorded RBIs.
Sophomore Jerzey Jarvis led off the game with a single and quickly stole second and third. She came home on an RBI triple from Su'a, and she later scored on an RBI single from Glass.
In the fourth, freshman Leah Alcala tripled with one out and came in on an RBI groundout from Blake.
That would be more than enough offense for the tandem of Su'a and Jemio. Su'a (5-2) earned the win with four innings of work, scattering two hits and fanning four. Jemio recorded her first save of the season with three innings of one-hit relief work.
