SMCC Women's Volleyball Wraps Up Season against No. 9 Mesa CC, Phoenix College

The South Mountain Community College women's volleyball team wrapped up its 2025 season with ACCAC Division II road contests at No. 9 Mesa CC on Oct. 28 and at Phoenix College on Oct. 30. The Cougars fell 3-0 in both matches. Sophomore Alyssa Szymanski and freshmen Julia Abdelsalam and Isley Seabrooke recorded five kills apiece to lead the Cougars against the Thunderbirds.
SMCC Women's Volleyball Falls to Chandler-Gilbert CC on Sophomore Night

The South Mountain Community College women's volleyball team fell 3-0 (25-20, 25-13, 25-20) to Chandler-Gilbert CC in an ACCAC Division II home match on Friday, Oct. 24. Sophomore Alyssa Szymanski led the Cougars with nine kills and 10 digs, freshman Esra Bryant posted five kills, and Julia Abdelsalam, Abby Kilpatrick, and Keira Allen all registered nine digs apiece on Sophomore Night.
SMCC Women's Volleyball Knocks off Ottawa University (AZ)

The South Mountain Community College women's volleyball team defeated Ottawa University (JV) 3-1 in a non-conference match on Oct. 15 at the SMCC Gym. Sophomore Alyssa Szymanski led the Cougars with 12 kills, freshman Talullah Johnson added 10 kills, and freshman Keira Allen posted a season-high 23 digs as the Cougars knocked off the Spirit. Two days later, SMCC fell 3-0 to Scottsdale CC in an ACCAC Division II match in which Szymanski and sophomore Abby Kilpatrick led the Cougars with six kills apiece.
Cougar Women's Volleyball Falls to Pima CC, Glendale CC
October 14, 2025
The South Mountain Community College women's volleyball team (1-12, 0-8 ACCAC) lost 3-0 at Pima CC on Oct. 8 and 3-1 to No. 12 Glendale CC at home on Oct. 10 in a pair of ACCAC matches last week. Freshman Julia AbdelSalam led SMCC with five kills, and freshman Keira Allen posted a team-high nine digs in the loss to the Aztecs. Against the nationally ranked Gauchos, the Cougars stormed back to win set one and freshman Talullah Johnson led SMCC with eight kills, and AbdelSalam added seven kills and a season-high 18 digs.
SMCC Women's Volleyball Falls to Yavapai College

The South Mountain Community College women's volleyball team lost 3-0 to Yavapai College in a non-conference match in Prescott, Ariz., on Saturday, Oct. 12. Freshman Isley Seabrooke led the Cougars with a season-high 10 kills and sophomore Amanda Mitan added seven kills and hit .538 as the Cougars and Roughriders battled late into each set of the contest.
SMCC Women's Volleyball Falls to Central Arizona, Phoenix College

The South Mountain Community College women's volleyball team fell 3-0 to Central Arizona on Oct. 1 and 3-2 to Phoenix College on Oct. 3 in a pair of home matches at the SMCC Gymnasium last week. Freshman Talullah Johnson led SMCC with eight kills, and sophomore Alyssa Szymanski added seven in the loss to the Vaqueras. Two days later, freshman Julia Abdelsalam posted a double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs, and sophomore Esra Bryant recorded nine kills and 11 block assists in a five-set loss to the Bears.

The South Mountain Community College women's volleyball team (1-7, 0-5 ACCAC) fell 3-0 in a road match at Chandler-Gilbert CC on Sept. 24 and 3-1 in a home match against No. 10 Mesa CC on Sept. 26. Sophomore Alyssa Szymanski led the Cougars with seven kills and freshman Morgan Moraga added five kills in the match with the Coyotes. Two days later, freshman Talullah Johnson posted a team-high 12 kills and fellow freshman Esra Bryant had a season-high six kills as the Cougars took a set against the nationally ranked Thunderbirds.
Cougar Volleyball Sweeps Cleveland CC (NC)
September 22, 2025
Sophomore Amanda Mitan led the South Mountain CC women's volleyball team with 11 kills, freshman Tallulah Johnson posted nine, and sophomore Alyssa Szymanski added eight, including the match winner, as the Cougars posted a 3-0 victory over Cleveland CC (NC) in a non-conference match at Mesa CC on Sept. 19. Freshman Morgan Moraga recorded seven kills, sophomore Ailynn Solis had a team-high 26 assists, and freshman Ava Moreno finished with a team-high 14 digs as SMCC posted its first win of the 2025 season.
SMCC Women's Volleyball Takes Set at No. 18 Glendale CC, Falls to Scottsdale CC

The South Mountain Community College women's volleyball team (0-5, 0-3 ACCAC) lost 3-1 to No. 18 Glendale CC on Sept. 10 and 3-0 to Scottsdale CC on Sept. 12 in a pair of ACCAC Division II road matches last week. Sophomore Alyssa Szymanski had a season-high 11 kills, and freshman Talullah Johnson set a season best with nine as the Cougars won set three against the nationally ranked Gauchos on their home floor. Against the Fighting Artichokes, Szymanski and Johnson led SMCC with five kills apiece while sophomore Amanda Mitan and freshman Morgan Moraga each had three.
Cougar Women's Volleyball Battles with No. 25 Scottsdale CC, Pima CC

The South Mountain Community College women's volleyball team (0-3, 0-1 ACCAC) lost 3-0 at No. 25 Scottsdale CC on Sept. 3 and 3-0 to Pima CC in an ACCAC home match on Sept. 5 in a pair of contests last week. Freshman Morgan Moraga led the Cougars with six kills while hitting .385, and freshmen Esra Bryant and Julia Abdelsalam and sophomores Abby Kilpatrick and Alyssa Szymanski added four kills apiece against the Fighting Artichokes. Two days later, Szymanski led SMCC with five kills, and Moraga added four against the Aztecs.
SMCC Women's Volleyball Opens 2025 Season at No. 13 Mesa CC

The South Mountain Community College women's volleyball team (0-1) lost 3-0 (25-8, 25-11, 25-11) to No. 13 Mesa CC in a non-conference match at MCC's Theo Heap Gym on Saturday, Aug. 23. Sophomore Alyssa Szymanski led SMCC with five kills and finished second on the team with seven digs, while sophomore Abby Kilpatrick posted two kills and a team-high eight digs.
Taylor Galliano Named SMCC Women's Volleyball Head Coach

Former GCU standout Taylor Galliano has been named the new South Mountain Community College women's volleyball head coach, SMCC Director of Athletics Todd Eastin announced. A middle blocker orignally from Santa Ana, Calif., Galliano brings extensive playing and coaching experience to the Cougars for the upcoming 2025 season.
