SMCC Softball Falls to Louisburg College 7-5 to Conclude 2026 Season
SPARTANBURG, SC ---
The South Mountain Community College softball team (47-15) lost 7-5 to Louisburg College (NC) in an elimination game at the 2026 NJCAA Division II World Series at Tyger River Park in Spartanburg, SC. Sophomore Jerzey Jarvis finished 3 for 4 with a double, a triple, two runs, and an RBI, while sophomore Tazia Blake blasted a solo home run and finished with two RBIs in defeat. The Cougars wrap up their season with a 47-15 overall record and a 35-7 mark in ACCAC Division II play.
Jarvis got the Cougars started quickly, smacking a double over the third baseman's head to start the game. She moved to third on a wild pitch, and sophomore Sadie Su'a drew a walk to put the runners on the corners. Sophomore Alyssa Jemio then delivered a sac fly to bring in Jarvis and put SMCC ahead 1-0.
Unfortunately, the Hurricanes fought back and took a 4-1 lead in their half of the first.
With one out in the second, Blake smashed a solo home run, her fifth of the year, to bring SMCC back within two. Jarvis then plated sophomore Brooklynn Wishart with a two-out, RBI triple, and she later scored on a wild pitch to tie the game.
Louisburg reclaimed the lead in the third with a solo home run and pushed across another in the fourth. Blake drew a bases-loaded walk in the fifth to bring SMCC within 6-5, but the Cougars would get no closer as the Vikings added an insurance run in their half of the frame.
Su'a took the loss in the circle to fall to 17-6 on the season. She allowed six hits, six earned runs, and three walks to go with three strikeouts in four innings of work. Sophomore Aryka Ortega tossed the final two innings, allowing one hit and one unearned run to go with two strikeouts.
Jarvis, a two-time All-ACCAC honoree, finished the year with nine triples. That is the most triples by a Cougar since 2015 and ranks third in program history. Su'a, the 2026 ACCAC DII Player of the Year, finished with 30 doubles, the third-most in program history, and her 94 runs rank second.
