SMCC Softball Falls to Louisburg College 7-5 to Conclude 2026 Season

The South Mountain Community College softball team (47-15) lost 7-5 to Louisburg College (NC) in an elimination game at the 2026 NJCAA Division II World Series at Tyger River Park in Spartanburg, SC. Sophomore Jerzey Jarvis finished 3 for 4 with a double, a triple, two runs, and an RBI, while sophomore Tazia Blake blasted a solo home run and finished with two RBIs in defeat. The Cougars wrap up their season with a 47-15 overall record and a 35-7 mark in ACCAC Division II play.

SMCC Softball Falls 6-2 to Saint Johns River State at World Series

The 11th-seeded South Mountain Community College softball team (47-14) lost 6-2 to sixth-seeded Saint Johns River State College (FL) on Wednesday, May 20, in the opening round of the 2026 NJCAA Division II World Series at Tyger River Park in Spartanburg, SC. Sophomore Alyssa Jemio and Leah Alcala produced RBI singles for the Cougars, but the Vikings took advantage of some close calls and used three home runs to push past SMCC.

The South Mountain Community College softball team received an at-large berth and earned the No. 11 seed in the 2026 NJCAA Division II World Series from May 19-24 in Spartanburg, S.C., at Tyger River Park. The Cougars will face the No. 6 seed St. Johns River State College Vikings in their first game of the tournament at 1:30 p.m. ET / 10:30 p.m. MT.

No. 8 SMCC Softball Forces Decisive Game, Finishes Runner-Up at Region I DII Tournament

The No. 8 South Mountain Community College softball team (47-13) posted a 9-1, six-inning victory to force a decisive, winner-take-all contest, but fell 1-0 to No. 9 Pima CC in the Championship Series of the Region I Division II Tournament. SMCC will now wait to see if it earns one of four at-large bids for the 2026 NJCAA Division II World Series from May 19-24 in Spartanburg, S.C. The NJCAA DII Selection Show is on Tuesday, May 12 at 4 p.m. EDT / 1 p.m. MST on the NJCAA Network.

Sadie Su'a Named ACCAC DII Player of the Year; Eight Cougars Named All-ACCAC

Sophomore Sadie Su'a of the No. 7 SMCC softball team earned ACCAC Division II Player of the Year honors after a sensational 2026 regular season that saw her lead all conference players, regardless of division, with 95 hits, 88 runs, 28 doubles, and 74 RBIs over 55 games. Joining Su'a on the First Team All-ACCAC and First Team All-Region I Division II Teams were sophomores Alyssa Jemio and Tazia Blake. Sophomores Jerzey Jarvis and Eva Harrison, and freshman GG Moreno received Second Team honors, while freshman Leah Alcala and sophomore Aryka Ortega earned a spot on the Third Team.

The No. 8 South Mountain Community College softball team (44-11, 35-7 ACCAC) wrapped up its 2026 regular season with a sweep of Paradise Valley CC in an ACCAC Division II doubleheader on Tuesday, April 28. Sophomores Tazia Blake and Kaeliann Glass and freshman GG Moreno hit homers, and sophomore Sadie Su'a tossed a no-hitter in the circle in a 20-0, five-inning victory in game one. In the second game, freshman Leah Alcala, sophomore Jerzey Jarvis, and Su'a blasted home runs, and sophomore Aryka Ortega picked up her 14th win of the year in a 15-1, six-inning victory.

The No. 10 South Mountain Community College softball team (42-11, 33-7 ACCAC Division II) swept an ACCAC road doubleheader at Scottsdale CC on Saturday, April 25, winning 9-1 (5 innings) in game one and 14-2 (6 innings) in game two. Sophomore Sadie Su'a blasted a home run at the plate and posted four innings in the circle to get the win, while freshman Leah Alcala had three RBIs in the game-one victory. In game two, Alcala and sophomores Alyssa Jemio and Tazia Blake all launched home runs as the Cougars took two from the Fighting Artichokes.

The No. 10 South Mountain Community College softball team (40-11, 31-7 ACCAC Division II) swept an ACCAC Division II doubleheader at Glendale CC on Tuesday, April 21, winning 6-1 and 20-1 (5 innings). Sophomore Sadie Su'a and freshman GG Moreno hit home runs in both victories for the Cougars, and Su'a and sophomore Aryka Ortega recorded victories in the circle.

April 20, 2026

The No. 10 South Mountain Community College softball team (38-11, 29-7 ACCAC Division II) split an ACCAC Division II doubleheader with No. 7 Pima CC on Saturday, April 18 at the SMCC Softball Field, falling 6-4 in game one before posting a 2-1 victory in game two. Sophomore Jerzey Jarvis had two hits and three RBIs in game one, but some Cougar errors aided the Aztecs in snapping SMCC's 18-game winning streak. In game two, sophomore Aryka Ortega turned in four shutout innings in relief, and freshman GG Moreno delivered a game-winning sac fly to help the Cougars snap the Aztecs' 15-game winning streak and halve the season series between the two squads.

The No. 10 South Mountain Community College softball team (37-10) defeated Central Arizona 10-9 in a non-conference home game on Tuesday, April 14. Sophomore Alyssa Jemio, sophomore Tazia Blake, and freshman GG Moreno hit home runs for the Cougars in the victory, and sophomore Kaeliann Glass delivered a two-out RBI single in the sixth to push the Cougars past the Vaqueras.

No. 12 Cougar Softball Sweeps Mesa CC to Extend Winning Streak

April 12, 2026

The No. 12 South Mountain Community College softball team (36-10, 28-6 ACCAC Division II) swpet and ACCAC Division II home doubleheader with Mesa CC on Saturday, April 11, winning 9-0 (5 innings) and 12-4 (6 innings) to extend its winning streak to 17-straight games. Sophomore Tazia Blake had three RBIs, including a two-run triple, and sophomore Alyssa Jemio tossed a four-hit shutout in the game-one victory. In game two, sophomore Sadie Su'a hit a three-run home run, her 10th of the year, added a double, and picked up a save in the circle as the Cougars took two from the Thunderbirds.

No. 12 SMCC Softball Takes Two from No. 15 Phoenix College

The No. 12 South Mountain Community College softball team (34-10, 26-6 ACCAC Division II) defeated No. 15 Phoenix College 7-5 and 8-2 in an ACCAC Division II home doubleheader on Tuesday, April 7. Sophomore Alyssa Jemio earned the win in the circle and drove in three runs at the plate, including a solo home run, in the game-one victory. In game two, freshman Leah Alcala blasted a go-ahead two-run home run in the fifth and fellow rookie GG Moreno launched her second home run of the day in the 8-2 win as the Cougars claimed the season series with the Bears and extended their winning streak to 15-straight games.

No. 13 SMCC Softball Sweeps Chandler-Gilbert CC in ACCAC Doubleheader

The No. 13 South Mountain Community College softball team (32-10, 24-6 ACCAC Division II) swept an ACCAC Division II home doubleheader against Chandler-Gilbert CC on Saturday, Apr. 4, winning 9-1 (6 innings) and 3-2. Three Cougars (Jerzey Jarvis, Leah Alcala, and Eva Harrison) had two hits apiece and sophomore Alyssa Jemio tossed five innings of two-hit shutout softball in the game-one victory. In game two, freshman Samantha Macnab hit a two-out RBI double to score Alcala in the bottom of the fifth to break a 2-2 deadlock and lift the Cougars to the doubleheader sweep and season series victory over the Coyotes.

No. 13 SMCC Softball Sweeps Twin Bill at Central Arizona

The No. 13 South Mountain Community College softball team (30-10) defeated Central Arizona 6-5 and 2-1 in a non-conference road doubleheader on Tuesday, Mar. 31, in Coolidge, Ariz. Sophomore Sadie Su'a had a double, a home run, and two RBIs, and freshman Leah Alcala added two hits in the game-one victory. In game two, sophomore Tazia Blake broke a 1-1 deadlock with a sac fly in the top of the seventh to help lift the Cougars to the doubleheader sweep.

No. 14 SMCC Softball Sweeps Monroe University, Paradise Valley CC

March 30, 2026

The No. 14 South Mountain Community College softball team (28-10, 22-6 ACCAC Division II) swept a non-conference doubleheader with Monroe University (NY) on Friday, Mar. 27 and then took two games from Paradise Valley CC in an ACCAC Division II doubleheader on Saturday, Mar. 28. Sophomore GG Moreno had two doubles in both victories and sophomore Kaeliann Glass added three doubles over the Mustangs. The next day, Moreno hit for the cycle over two games against the Pumas to help lead the Cougars to a pair of important conference victories.

No. 14 SMCC Softball Posts Pair of Walk-off Wins against Scottsdale CC

March 25, 2026

The No. 14 South Mountain Community College softball team (24-10, 20-6 ACCAC Division II) swept an ACCAC Division II home doubleheader with Scottsdale CC on Tuesday, Mar. 24, winning 4-3 and 10-2 (5 innings) at the SMCC Softball Field. Sophomore Eva Harrison hit a key two-out, two-run double and scored on an error in the sixth to tie game one, and sophomore Kaeliann Glass brought in sophomore Sadie Su'a in the seventh with an RBI single. In game two, the Cougar offense exploded for three home runs, and a seven-run fifth inning saw sophomore Alyssa Jemio end the game early with an RBI single to enact the run-rule victory.
