The South Mountain Community College women's basketball team lost 78-33 to Phoenix College in an ACCAC Division II contest on Saturday, Feb. 14 at the SMCC Gym. Freshman guard Saleen Rios came off the bench to lead the Cougars with 12 points, and freshman forward Kashari Bullard grabbed a team-high seven rebounds in the contest.
Rios was 2 of 4 from the field and made 8 of 11 from the free-throw line in 25 minutes. She added two rebounds, two assists, and three steals. Bullard posted four points and a blocked shot in addition to her seven boards.
Freshman Victoria Benito was second on the team with five points, and she finished with three rebounds, two steals, and an assist. Freshman Jayden Lynch also scored four points and added three assists, two rebounds, and a steal.
Freshman Janelle Smith had three points, six rebounds, and a steal, while freshman Jaya Harris had two points, four rebounds, one steal, and one assist. Freshman Genesis Rios posted three points, two rebounds, and one assist.
