PHOENIX ---
The South Mountain Community College softball team (3-4, 3-3 ACCAC Division II) split an ACCAC Division II doubleheader with Mesa CC on Saturday, Feb. 7, at the SMCC Softball Field. The Cougars lost a pitchers' duel in the first game, falling 2-1 despite a solid performance in the circle from sophomore Aryka Ortega. In game two, the SMCC offense erupted for an 8-0, six-inning victory over the Thunderbirds.
Game One Recap
The Cougars and Thunderbirds entered the seventh inning scoreless. MCC got a two-out, two-run single from Alyssa Antillon in the top of the frame to give SMCC three outs to find at least two runs.
