The South Mountain Community College women's volleyball team wrapped up its 2025 season with ACCAC Division II road contests at No. 9 Mesa CC on Oct. 28 and at Phoenix College on Oct. 30. The Cougars fell 3-0 in both matches. Sophomore Alyssa Szymanski and freshmen Julia Abdelsalam and Isley Seabrooke recorded five kills apiece to lead the Cougars against the Thunderbirds.
No. 9 Mesa CC Recap
The Cougars fell in straight sets to the nationally ranked Thunderbirds on Tuesday, Oct. 28: 25-13, 25-13, and 25-15. SMCC totaled 19 kills, 16 assists, 37 digs, two service aces, one solo block, and four block assists in the defeat.
Szymanski had five kills in 16 attacks and added two digs. Abdelsalam posted five kills in 20 swings with two digs, and Seabrooke produced five kills in 18 swings plus a block assist.
Freshman Allie Encinas led SMCC with eight assists and added seven digs, while sophomore Ailynn Solis had six assists and two digs.
Sophomore Keira Allen led the Cougars with 12 digs and added one kill and one service ace. Freshman Esra Bryant posted a pair of block assists, one solo block, and a kill, and freshman Talullah Johnson had five digs.
Phoenix College Recap
The Cougars fell in straight sets to the Bears in both teams' season finale: 25-13, 25-17, and 25-23.
Szymanski posted 11 kills on 27 swings to hit .333 over the three sets in the final match of her SMCC career. She added six digs and one assist in the contest, and finished the year with a team-high 119 kills.
Mitan was second on the squad with four kills in 11 attacks, and finished the season with 55 kills and 25 digs.
Encinas led SMCC with 17 assists and added nine digs, one kill, and one block assist. She finished her freshman season with 191 assists, an average of 3.24 per set, and 117 digs in 18 matches.
Abdelsalam led the Cougars with 14 digs and added a kill in the loss. She ended her rookie season with 129 digs, 56 kills, and 16 blocks (2 solo, 14 block assists).
Allen was second on the team with 10 digs, and added two assists and a service ace. She totaled a team-best 156 digs to go with 35 assists and five service aces in her freshman campaign.
Johnson posted six digs, three kills, and an assist to finish the year with 77 kills, 92 digs, and a team-high 26 service aces.
