SMCC Women's Basketball Falls to Phoenix College

The South Mountain Community College women's basketball team lost 97-40 to Phoenix College in an ACCAC Division II home game on Saturday, Dec. 6. Freshman Genesis Rios scored a season-high 13 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, and freshman Ramona Gregg grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds in the loss. 

The Cougars trailed 51-20 at halftime and fell 46-20 in the second half. SMCC totaled 33 rebounds, seven assists, and nine steals in the contest. 

Rios shot 3 of 6 overall and 2 of 5 from downtown in 26 minutes. She also was 5 of 8 from the free-throw line and added two rebounds and an assist. 

Gregg recorded her fourth game with double-figure rebounds this season with her 11 rebounds, and she added four points, three assists, and a steal in 32 minutes. 

Freshman Kashari Bullard posted five points and four rebounds off the bench in 24 minutes, and freshman Saleen Rios registered five points and four rebounds in 14 minutes. Freshman Jaya Harris recorded two points, three rebounds, two steals, and one assist in 20 minutes.
