Four Cougars Earn All-ACCAC Division II Softball Honors

The South Mountain Community College softball team placed four Cougars on the 2025 All-ACCAC Division II honors for their work on the diamond: Dionna Leanio (Outfield), Nadia Rascon (Utility), Sadie Su'a (Battery), and Jerzey Jarvis (Infield). Rascon and Leanio earned First Team honors, Su'a received Second Team honors, and Jarvis collected a Third Team award. Rascon and Leanio also earned a spot on the NJCAA All-Region I Division II team.
Rascon, a sophomore utility player from Maryvale, Ariz., led the Cougars in multiple offensive categories. She batted .476 with 61 runs, 69 hits, 26 doubles, two triples, 14 home runs, 70 RBIs, 29 walks, and four stolen bases in 50 regular season games. She thrived against ACCAC competition, finishing with a .483 batting average, 50 runs, 57 hits, 20 doubles, two triples, 13 home runs, 57 RBIs, 24 walks, and three stolen bases in 40 games.
She won three ACCAC Division II Player of the Week awards during the season and posted 18 multi-hit and 16 multi-RBI games against conference opposition. Rascon hit two home runs and finished with six RBIs in a win at Paradise Valley CC on Mar. 25, and she homered twice in a home victory over Pima CC on Mar. 27.
Leanio, a sophomore outfielder from Phoenix, is now a two-time First Team All-ACCAC honoree who set new career highs in several offensive categories. She ended the regular season with 50 runs, 54 hits, six doubles, three triples, 19 RBIs and 20 walks to set new career bests in each category. Leanio batted .435 in 38 games, added 12 stolen bases, and saved most of her damage for conference opposition.
She scored a career-high four runs in a win at Glendale CC on Mar. 18 and had a season-high three hits in six different games. Leanio drove in a career-high four RBIs in the regular-season finale at Chandler-Gilbert CC on May 3, and she had two stolen bases in wins over CGCC and PVCC. Leanio posted 15 multi-hit and 11 multi-run games against conference opponents.
Su'a, a sophomore right-handed pitcher and infielder from Phoenix, enjoyed a stellar campaign at the plate and in the circle. As a pitcher, she went 9-3 with a save, 84 strikeouts, and a 3.28 ERA in 72.2 innings while batting .376 with 12 doubles, eight home runs, 37 RBIs, 14 walks, eight stolen bases, and 47 runs in 40 games as a hitter.
She posted a career-high 13 strikeouts en route to a one-hit shutout victory over Mesa CC on Apr. 10 and fanned 12 batters twice, doing so against Scottsdale CC on Feb. 18 and Mar. 22. As a hitter, Su'a posted a career-high five hits, five runs, and five RBIs in a win at CGCC on Mar. 1, and had a pair of doubles in a win over Glendale CC on Feb. 15.
Jarvis, a freshman infielder from Ammond, Idaho, played at shortstop, second base, and third base while leading the Cougars in stolen bases. During the regular season, she batted .310 in 49 games with 38 runs, 39 hits, six doubles, two triples, two home runs, 37 RBIs, and nine walks.
Jarvis recorded seven multi-hit, nine multi-RBI, and three multi-steal games against ACCAC rivals and hit two home runs in a victory over PVCC. She has been involved in 13 defensive double plays while facing nearly 200 defensive chances.
