Bio

Kevin Soine enters his seventh season as Assistant Baseball Coach and Athletic Operations Coordinator at South Mountain Community College, where he plays a key role in both the success of the baseball program and the support of student-athletes across all sports. A former collegiate outfielder and pitcher, Soine brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to the Cougars.

Since joining the Cougars in 2019, Soine has helped guide the team to multiple Region Championships, a District Championship in 2025, a No. 3 seed at the 2025 NJCAA Division II World Series, and a cumulative win percentage of .645 (207-114). His leadership of the pitching staff in the last four years has produced multiple standout seasons, including 2025 ACCAC Division II Pitcher of the Year in 2025 (Luis Martin Romero), a top-5 national ERA in 2023, 31 NCAA Division-I signees, and four MLB draft picks.

As Recruiting Coordinator, Soine has been instrumental in sending over 60 players to NCAA Division I programs, and has seen six of his players selected in the MLB Draft over the past five years. Beyond coaching, he is deeply involved in the operations of the athletic department—managing eligibility, compliance, budgeting, travel logistics, and mentoring student-athletes both on and off the field.

In addition to his work at South Mountain CC, Soine has managed and coached in the Coastal Plain League from 2017 through 2021, leading summer collegiate teams such as the Martinsville Mustangs, the Holly Springs Salamanders, and most recently, the Macon Bacon. His teams have consistently developed professional-level talent, and he was part of a CPL championship in 2020. He’s also been selected to lead the CPL Select Team, reflecting his standing within the league.

Soine’s passion for teaching extends beyond the diamond. He has spoken at coaching conventions, including the Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Association, and has contributed to educational platforms such as Coaches Insider with his expertise on modern catching techniques.

Prior to South Mountain, he held coaching and instructional roles at Ridgewater College, Murray State College, and the University of Dubuque. He holds an M.B.A. from the University of Dubuque, a B.A. in Business Administration and Marketing from Grand View University, and an A.A. from Century College.
