Sophomore Bryan Lorenz Earns Second Team NJCAA All-American Honors

Sophomore Bryan Lorenz earned 2026 NJCAA Division II Second Team All-American honors after a sensational season for the South Mountain Community College baseball team. Lorenz, the ACCAC DII Player of the Year, appeared in 70 games and batted .405 with 78 runs, 111 hits, 21 doubles, five triples, nine home runs, 75 RBIs, 32 walks, and 14 stolen bases. He excelled at the 2026 NJCAA DII World Series, earning Offensive Player of the Tournament honors after batting .469 (15-for-32) over eight games, during which he recorded three doubles, one triple, three home runs, nine RBIs, five walks, two stolen bases, and 16 runs. He led all NJCAA Division II players in hits, ranked 17th in runs, and tied for 24th in the nation in RBIs.
 
Lorenz posted a season-high four hits in four games, scored a season-high three runs in five games, and drove in a season-high four RBIs in a win at Glendale CC on Mar 21. He hit three doubles, scored twice, and drove in two in a win at Paradise Valley CC on March 28, homered and doubled against Chandler-Gilbert CC on April 1, and homered at Pima CC and drove in three with three runs on April 7 among his many highlights during the regular season. The Cougars repeated as ACCAC Division II Regular Season Champions.
 
The postseason saw Lorenz really excel. He homered, drove in three, and scored twice to help defeat Chandler-Gilbert CC on May 9 to help SMCC repeat as Region I Division II Tournament champion. At the West District Championships against Northern Oklahoma College-Enid, Lorenz totaled five hits, two runs, one double, and two RBIs as the Cougars swept the Jets in two games to repeat as West District Champions.
 
At the 2026 NJCAA DII World Series, Lorenz tripled, homered , and drove in three runs in a win over Parkland College (IL) on May 23 to open the Cougars' run. He doubled with three runs, an RBI, a walk, and a stolen base in a win over East Central CC (MS) on May 26 in an elimination game. Lorenz then drove in three with a home run and two runs in a win over Kellogg CC (MI) on May 27 in another elimination game.
 
Once SMCC reached the Final Four, he totaled five hits, five runs, two doubles, one home run, and four RBIs in two victories over Pasco-Hernando State (FL) to help lead SMCC to the National Championship Game. He finished with two hits and scored a run against Pearl River CC (MS) on May 30 in that contest as the Cougars finished National Runner-Up. Lorenz also earned 2026 ABCA/Rawlings NJCAA Division II Second Team All-American honors. 
 
As a freshman in 2025, Lorenz appeared in 65 games and earned First Team All-ACCAC Division II and All-Region I Division II honors after he batted .348 with 63 runs, 86 hits, 14 doubles, three triples, eight home runs, 64 RBIs, 28 walks, and nine stolen bases.
