Sabah Dickerson was named the head coach of the South Mountain Community College women's basketball team in June 2025. Dickerson brings previous community college head coaching experience to the Cougars and has worked her way up the coaching ranks since starting as a student manager at Campbell University.
Dickerson arrived at SMCC after seven seasons, the last three as the head coach, at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, Iowa. While with the Tritons, Dickerson helped develop two NJCAA All-Americans, 15 NJCAA Academic All-Americans, eight NJCAA All-Region II honorees, and 31 Academic All-Region selections. The team won the Region 11 Division II title and advanced to the 2021 NJCAA Division II National Tournament in Hickory, N.C.
She oversaw all aspects of program operations, including recruitment, strength and conditioning, team practices, scheduling, social media, skill development, team travel logistics, community service, fundraising, and adherence to the annual budget. Dickerson also advised student-athletes on academics, ensuring NJCAA athletic eligibility and degree completion through weekly class attendance checks and bi-weekly grade monitoring.
Dickerson received her Bachelor of Science (2012) and Master's of Education (2015) from Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C. She served as a team manager for the Camel women's basketball team for four seasons and assisted the team in various capacities during practices and on game days.
She later received a Master's of Sports Administration from Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa, in 2018 after serving as an Athletics Graduate Assistant with the Peakocks for two years. Dickerson created social media content to enhance the visibility of the WBB program to fans, families, and prospective recruits and assisted the coaching staff with individualized skill sessions, team practice planning, and scheduling of non-conference games.
Dickerson also worked as a basketball instructor at the Jacksonville Basketball Academy in Jacksonville, Fla., and served as a coach at Camp Arrowood: Basketball Camp for Girls in Annandale, Minn.
