The NJCAA Region I Division II Tournament begins Thursday evening when second-seeded South Mountain Community College hosting third-seeded Scottsdale Community College at 7:30 p.m. at The Cougar Den.
Adults are $10. Children/seniors/MCCCD students are $7. Cash Only. An ATM is available on the SMCC Campus.

Last Time Out
The SMCC men's basketball team defeated Mesa CC 82-74 in an ACCAC Division II road contest on Saturday, Feb. 28. Freshman Travis Vasquez led five Cougars in double-figures with 18 points as the Cougars closed out the regular season with their 25th victory, the most by an SMCC team since the 2010-11 squad.

The Coaches
Cory Hoff is in his first season at the helm of the Cougar program. Hoff takes over the program after serving the past two years as Associate Head Coach at New Mexico Military Institute, a NJCAA DI program located in Roswell, New Mexico. During Hoff's Career, his programs have achieved a NAIA DI National Championship, two Conference Tournament Championships, one Regular Season Championship, seven Playoff Appearances, 23 Top 25 wins, four All-Americans, 19 All-Conference awards and 14 professionals. Hoff is 3-0 against Scottsdale CC.
Zac Harrison is 16-13 in his first year at Scottsdale Community College with a 10-8 record in ACCAC play. Harrison is 0-3 against South Mountain CC.

Vasquez, Carabio Earn All-ACCAC Honors
Freshman Travis Vasquez earned All-ACCAC Division II First Team honors, and sophomore Blake Carabio received a Second Team All-ACCAC Division II award for their work on the court for the South Mountain Community College men's basketball team during the 2025-26 season.

Tough Scheduling
SMCC MBB will play 18 conference games against ACCAC opponents, which is one of the toughest conferences in the country. Additionally, SMCC has scheduled five non-conference games against NJCAA DI opponents with College of Southern Nevada, Community Christian College (2x), Miles Community College and Yavapai College on the schedule.
ACCAC Play
The ACCAC DII is made up of 7 programs. Each team plays 18 conference games during the season. Last season saw Pima Community College take home the ACCAC Regular Season & Region 1 Championships. Chandler-Gilbert CC, Glendale CC and South Mountain CC joined them in qualifying for the Region 1 Playoffs.
