SMCC Men's Golf Announces Four-Year Transfers

The South Mountain Community College men's golf program and head coach Marcus Smith have announced the Cougars' four-year transfers from the 2025-26 season. The Cougars rallied for a third-place finish at the 2026 NJCAA Division II National Championships and won the Region I Division II and ACCAC titles.
PJ Segerstrom --- Sacramento State University
Sophomore PJ Segerstrom, a 2025 NJCAA Honorable Mention All-American, will continue his intercollegiate golf career at Sacramento State University, an NCAA Division I program in California. The Hornets compete in the Big West Conference.
Segerstrom played in seven spring tournaments in 2026. His best finish came at the Gila Monster Shootout, where he placed third at -2 (214) at Mt. Graham Golf Course. He also placed fourth at the South Mountain ACCAC Invite at -3 (139) and tied for fourth at -7 (137) at the Mesa Thunderbird Classic. He earned NJCAA Division II PING All-Central Region honors for his play.
As a freshman in 2025, Segerstrom earned NJCAA Honorable Mention All-American honors after tying for 26th at the NJCAA National Championships at +15 (303). He also tied for third at the Paradise Valley Tournament at +5 (145) and finished fifth at the Glendale Spring Tournament at -2 (142).
Cooper Perkinson --- Utah Tech University
Cooper Perkinson --- Utah Tech University
Freshman Cooper Perkinson will continue his intercollegiate golf career at Utah Tech University, an NCAA Division I program in St. George. The Trailblazers compete in the Western Athletic Conference.
Perkinson won twice in the 2026 spring. He won the Mesa Thunderbird Classic at -11 (133) at Dobson Ranch Golf Course, and won the Chandler-Gilbert Invite at -7 (137) at Toka Sticks Golf Course. He finished eighth at the Region I Division II Tournament with a final score of +9 (293) and tied for 27th at the NJCAA Division II National Championships at +10 (298). He earned NJCAA Division II PING All-Central Region honors for his play.
Dane Glesbrecht --- University of the Fraser Valley
Freshman Dane Glesbrecht will continue his intercollegiate golf career at the University of the Fraser Valley in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada. The Cascades compete in the Canada West Conference of U Sports.
Glesbrecht appeared in two spring 2026 tournaments for the Cougars, tying for 12th at the Gila Monster Shootout and placing 17th at the Puma Spring Classic.
Former Cougars Jack Taylor and Zane Aiken will also continue their intercollegiate careers at NCAA Division I programs this fall. Taylor spent the 2026 spring season at Kansas State University and will transfer to UNLV for the 2026-27 athletic season. The Rebels compete in the Mountain West Conference.
Aiken, who competed at Central Alabama CC this past spring, will transfer to the University of Toledo. The Rockets compete in the Mid-American Conference.
