Freshman Quinton Breuer Named ACCAC Region I Men's Golf Player of the Year

Freshman Quinton Breuer of the No. 2 South Mountain Community College men's golf team received 2026 ACCAC Division II Player of the Year honors after an outstanding spring season for the Cougars on the links. Breuer won the Puma Spring Classic, placed second at the NJCAA Region I Division II Championships, had two other top-three finishes, and carded a cumulative -28 over the spring season.
Most recently, Breuer placed second at the Region I Division II Championships with a final score of -4 (280) to help lead the Cougars to the team title. He carded rounds of 67, 70, 71, and 72 on the par-71 course over April 20-23 at Ocotillo Golf Course in Chandler, Ariz.
He and teammate sophomore PJ Segerstrom were tied for the individual lead on day one after Breuer posted six birdies, three on both the front and back nine. Day two saw Breuer add another five birdies to his total, and he posted another two in his third round. On the final day, he finished with three birdies.
At the Puma Spring Classic, Breuer claimed individual medalist honors at -6 (136) over Feb. 24-25 at Encanto Golf Course in Phoenix. In the first round, Breuer rebounded from a tough start of two birdies and four bogeys to card seven birdies over the final 11 holes. He posted six birdies on the back nine, including the final three holes, to finish at four-under 66.
His second round featured an eagle three on the par-five No. 8 and two birdies as he posted a two-under 68. He defeated Paradise Valley's Gael Quesada and Eastern Arizona's Pavel Casas by two strokes.
He placed second at -5 (137) at the South Mountain ACCAC Spring Invite, Mar. 1-2 at Apache Creek Golf Course in Apache Junction, Ariz. Breuer carded scores of even-par 71 and five-under 66, recording three birdies in his first round and adding six more of the final 18 holes.
Breuer tied for second at Chandler-Gilbert Coyote Classic over Mar. 31 and Apr. 1 at Toka Sticks Golf Course in Mesa, Ariz., with a final score of -6 (138). He posted identical scores of three-under 69 each day. He had five birdies in his first round and five more in his second round, plus an eagle three on the par-five No. 17.
Breuer placed fourth at the season-opening Lions Spring Classic at -3 (139) over Jan. 27-28 at Tres Rios Golf Course in Goodyear, Ariz. He also was fourth at the Gila Monster Shootout over April 13-14 at Mt. Graham Golf Course in Safford, Ariz., with a final score of +1 (217) over 54 holes.
He also finished seventh at the Mesa Thunderbirds Spring Classic on Mar. 16-17 at Dobson Ranch Golf Course in Mesa, Ariz., with a final score of -5 (139).
