SMCC's Jorge Parada Ties for Fourth at Charles Cooper Classic

Sophomore Jorge Parada of the South Mountain CC men's golf team carded a four-under 68 in the final round to ultimately tie for fourth at +1 (217) at the Charles Cooper Classic on Oct. 27-28 at Windance Country Club in Gulfport, Miss. Fellow sophomore Jack Taylor tied for seventh at +3 (219), and the Cougars tied for eighth at +38 (902) at the event.
Making the trip to Mississippi to face some of the nation's top Division I and Division II programs, Parada closed with a flurry to move up the final leaderboard. He posted six birdies, including four over the final nine holes, to finish four-under par for the round. He opened the tournament with a two-over 74 that featured three birdies, and posted a three-over 75 and four birdies in round two.
Taylor's best round also came on the final day of competition as he carded a two-under 70 behind four birdies. He started the event with a three-over 75 that featured two birdies and added four more in his second round en route to a two-over 74.
Freshman Quinton Breuer tied for 65th at +21 (237) with scores of 81, 78, and 78. He posted two birdies in his first and third rounds.
Sophomore PJ Segerstrom finished 70th at +23 (239) with scores of 81, 76, and 82. He carded two birdies in his first round, three in his second round, and one in the final round.
Sophomore Luke Padilla tied for 71st at +24 (240) with scores of 71, 79, and 90. He had three birdies in his first round and one in his second.
The Cougars tied for eighth with Northeast Mississippi CC at +38 (902). Murray State (OK) and Mississippi Gulf Coast tied for the tournament title at +14 (887).
