Segerstrom, SMCC Men's Golf Open Fall with Wins at Park University Fall Shootout

Sophomore PJ Segerstrom, a 2025 NJCAA Honorable Mention All-American, won the Park University Fall Shootout with a final score of -11 (203) over the three rounds of competition, defeating former Cougar Eric Klutke by two strokes. As a team, SMCC fielded two squads at the tournament, with the Blue Team winning the event at -23 (833) and the White Team coming in fourth at +3 (859).
The first round of competition took place at Whirlwind Golf Course in Chandler, Arizona, while rounds two and three were at Las Colinas Golf Course in Queen Creek, Arizona.
Segerstrom opened the event with a five-under 67 at Whirlwind and then carded a six-under 65 in the second round. He recorded seven birdies in round one and added eight more in the second. On the final day of competition, Segerstrom finished at even-par 71, posting four birdies to fend off Klutke for individual medalist honors.
Freshman Quinton Breuer tied for fourth at -5 (209) in his intercollegiate debut. He posted consecutive scores of 72 over the first days and closed in a fury with a six-under 65 that featured six birdies and an eagle three on the par-five No. 15. He had two birdies in his opening round and four more in his second.
Sophomore Jorge Parada finished sixth at -4 (210) with rounds of 71, 69, and 70. He had five birdies in his first round and posted two birdies and two eagles in his second round. He closed with four birdies in his final round.
Freshman Lucian Meller placed eighth at -1 (213) with scores of 73, 71, and 69. He posted four birdies over his opening 18 holes and added three more in his second round. He closed with five birdies in his final round to finish at two-under 69.
Freshman Cooper Perkinson and sophomore Luke Padilla tied for ninth at even-par (214). Perkinson carded rounds of 69, 72, and 73 with 10 birdies over the 54 holes, while Padilla had six birdies in his first round and added three more over the final 36 holes at Las Colinas.
Sophomore Jack Taylor and freshman Hudson Ross tied for 11th at +1 (215). Taylor recorded scores of 73, 71, and 71 with 10 birdies, while Ross also had 10 birdies and an eagle three on the par-five No. 5 in his second round.
Freshman Kaedon Smith placed 16th at +3 (217) with scores of 74, 74, and 69. After posting four birdies and an eagle over his first two rounds, he closed with four birdies in his final round en route to the two-under 69.
Freshman Tyler Weihe tied for 22nd at +8 (222) with scores of 76, 76, and 70. He totaled seven birdies, including three in his final round, over the 54 holes.
The Blue squad, comprised of Segerstrom, Breuer, Parada, Taylor, and Perkinson, won the team title at -23 with scores of 279, 277, and 277 to defeat second-place Arizona Christian University by 18 strokes. Benedictine-Mesa was third at -1, and the White squad, comprised of Meller, Weihe, Smith, Ross, and Padilla, was four strokes back at +3 with rounds of 291, 290, and 278.
