Justin Pluid brings a wealth of experience and passion for player development as a seasoned basketball coach entering his first season as an Assistant Basketball Coach for the South Mountain Community College men's basketball team.
Most recently, Pluid served as the Head Boys Freshman Coach and Assistant Boys Varsity Coach at Skyline High School (Mesa, AZ) during the 2024–25 season, where he focused on developing basketball IQ, athleticism, and skill in young players while supporting the varsity program with scouting and game planning.
Pluid previously served as Head Boys Varsity Basketball Coach at North Eugene High School (Eugene, OR) from 2015–2017, while also leading both the boys and girls water polo programs through 2020. In Arizona, Pluid spent two impactful seasons at Mesquite High School (Gilbert, AZ), first as Assistant Coach at both the freshmen and varsity levels (2013–14), then as Director of Player Development and Assistant Varsity Coach (2014–15).
Pluid’s coaching foundation was built during his time as founder and Head Coach of the Eugene Rockers Academy (2006–2013), a youth-focused basketball academy that served over 50 high school-level and under athletes. He hosted events with renowned coaches like Bev Smith, Ernie Kent, and Paul Westhead.
Now based in Arizona with his wife Kendra and three dogs, Zuko, Sokka and Toph, Pluid continues to focus on mentoring student-athletes through character-building, strong academics, and mental toughness—values that drive his mission to build winning programs on and off the court.
