Six SMCC Women's Golfers Earn All-ACCAC Division II Honors

Six members of the No. 12 South Mountain Community College women's golf team earned All-ACCAC Division II honors for their play on the links in the 2026 spring season. Freshmen Madilyn Hongell-Jimenez and Molly McDonald joined freshman Lexi Tuinstra, the ACCAC Division II Player of the Year, on the First Team, while freshmen Elaina Hales, Jaycee Garcia, and Mya Foord earned a spot on the Second Team.
 
Hongell-Jimenez and McDonald helped the Cougars win three spring tournaments. Hongell-Jimenez played in seven events, leading the Cougars with a second-place finish at +25 (169) at the Estrella Mountain Invite over Mar. 22-23 at Sundance Golf Course in Buckeye, Ariz. She also led SMCC with a third-place finish at +21 (165) at the South Mountain Invitational.
 
She also tied for fourth at +26 (168) at the PVCC Spring Invitational, placed fifth at +20 (164) at the Chandler-Gilbert Invite, and recorded a seventh-place finish at the ACCAC Spring Opener.  Hongell-Jimenez ended the year with an eighth-place finish at + 71 (355) over the four rounds at the 2026 NJCAA Region I Division II Championship from April 20-23 at Ocotillo Golf Course in Chandler, Ariz.
 
McDonald's best finishes of the spring season came when she tied for fifth at the Lady Thunderbird Invitational and the Estrella Mountain Invite. At the Lady Thunderbird Invitational over Mar. 16-17 at Dobson Ranch Golf Course in Mesa, Ariz., McDonald tied for fifth at +25 (169). She finished at +32 (176) at the Estrella Mountain Invite over Mar. 22-23 at Sundance Golf Course in Buckeye, Ariz.  
 
McDonald also placed sixth at the ACCAC Spring Opener, the PVCC Spring Invitational, and at the Region I Division II Championships.
 
Tuinstra won three spring tournaments and earned ACCAC Division II Player of the Year honors.
 
Hales competed in six spring tournaments and posted a season-best fifth-place finish at the ACCAC Spring opener with a final score of +33 (175). She also placed seventh four times, including at the recently completed Region Division II Championships, where she posted a four-round score of +70 (354). She also finished seventh at the PVCC Spring Invite, the Estrella Mountain Invite, and the Chandler-Gilbert Invite.
 
Garcia also competed in six spring events and posted a season-best, fourth-place finish at the South Mountain Invitational with a final score of +18 (162). She also placed sixth at the South Mountain Invitational, eighth at the PVCC Invite and the Chandler-Gilbert Invite, and ninth at the Region I Division II Championships.
 
Foord placed eighth at the South Mountain Invite, tied for ninth at the season-opening ACCAC Spring Opener, and finished 10th at the Lady Thunderbird Classic.
