SMCC Women's Golf Competes at OUAZ Fall Invitational

The South Mountain Community College women's golf team competed in the OUAZ Fall Invitational at Sterling Grove Golf + Country Club from Oct. 5-7, finishing eighth amidst a field of NAIA competition. Freshman Jaycee Garcia placed 34th at +38 (254), and fellow freshman Lexi Tuinstra was 36th at +42 (258) to lead the Cougars.
Garcia posted a birdie and six pars in her first round to card a 14-over 86, and she recorded seven more pars in her second round en route to another 14-over 86. In her final round, she posted another eight pars to finish at 10-over 86 for the round.
Tuinstra opened with nine pars to finish at 18-over 90, and she posted seven more in her second round to finish at 13-over 85. Tuinstra closed with an 11-over 83 in a first round that featured 10 pars, including seven straight to conclude her round.
Freshman Madilyn Hongell-Jimenez placed 44th at +59 (275). She had two pars in her first round to finish at 28-over 100, and added nine pars and a birdie in her second round to card a 13-over 85. She finished the event with six pars to post an 18-over 90.
Freshman Molly McDonald tied for 45th at +72 (288). She opened with six pars in her first round to card a 19-over 91, and added five pars and a birdie in her second round to post another 91. In her third round, McDonald had one par and finished at 34-over 106.
Freshman Elaina Hales was 47th at +75 (291). She had two pars in her first round to post a 39-over 111, and improved to eight pars in her second round en route to a 17-over 89. She ended with four pars and a birdie in her final round to post a 19-over 91.
Freshman Mya Foord was 48th at +84 (300). She had three pars in her first round to post a 28-over 100, and added two more in her second round to improve to 26-over 96. In her third round, Foord had two pars to post a 30-over 102.
