Bio
Gabby Rawson joined the SMCC women's volleyball coaching staff as a volunteer coach in June 2026, bringing a decorated collegiate playing career, leadership experience, and a passion for developing young athletes. A graduate of California State University, Stanislaus, Rawson earned her bachelor's degree in Communication Studies while competing as a libero for the Warriors. She is currently pursuing her master's degree in Sports Strategic Communication at Arizona State University, further expanding her knowledge of leadership, communication, and the sports industry.
Rawson finished her career as one of the most accomplished defensive players in Stan State volleyball history. She holds the program record for career digs with 1,613 and ranks second all-time in single-season digs with 512 and digs per set with 5.23. Her defensive excellence and leadership helped guide the Warriors to a CCAA Championship in 2024.
Throughout her collegiate career, Rawson earned numerous accolades, including AVCA All-American honors, AVCA All-West Region recognition, D2CCA All-West Region honors, and CCAA Libero of the Year awards in 2022 and 2024. She was named All-CCAA from 2022-2024, selected to the CCAA All-Tournament Team in 2024, and received the STANYS Warrior Spirit Award in 2023 and 2024 for her leadership, dedication, and impact on the program.
Before her time at Stan State, Rawson competed at the NCAA Division I level at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where she was part of a Mountain West Conference Championship team that advanced to the NCAA Tournament. She also developed her skills through club volleyball with Forza1 and had a successful high school career at Etiwanda High School, earning All-Baseline League honors and recording 888 career digs.
Drawing from her experience as a collegiate athlete, team captain, and student of sports communication, Rawson's coaching philosophy emphasizes strong fundamentals, communication, confidence, and creating a positive environment where athletes can grow. She is committed to sharing her knowledge of the game while helping players develop the skills, mindset, and leadership qualities needed to succeed both on and off the court.
