Bio
Former GCU standout Taylor Galliano was named the new South Mountain Community College women's volleyball coach in March 2025. A middle blocker orignally from Santa Ana, Calif., Galliano brings extensive playing and coaching experience to the Cougars.
Galliano brings in coaching experience from the club, high school, and college levels. He has worked with several top clubs in Arizona and California, including but not limited to, Saddleback Valley Volleyball Club, Orange Coast Volleyball Club, Forza1, and Arizona Sky. The success translated to a silver medal at the 2017 Junior Nationals and a bronze in 2018.
At the collegiate level, Galliano served as an assistant coach at Benedictine University-Mesa and at Irvine Valley College. His coaching philosophy emphasizes technical precision, strategic execution, and fostering a competitive and disciplined mindset in his athletes.
As a player, Galliano competed at Irvine Valley College and Grand Canyon University. With the Lasers, Galliano led all California junior colleges with 109 blocks and earning first-team all-conference honors in 2010.
After transferring to GCU, he started 28 of 32 matches in 2011, leading the team with a .317 hitting percentage, recording 231 kills, and ranking 11th in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) for hitting percentage. He received his Bachelor's of Science in Exercise Science in 2013.
Galliano prepped at Foothill High School in Santa Ana, Calif., and earned a selection to the USA High Performance Program, where he represented the U.S. as an outside hitter, competing against youth national teams throughout Europe heading into his senior year.
Galliano is married to Kayla Kane and the couple has a son named Jace.
