Bio
Julisa Carrizosa joined the South Mountain CC women's volleyball staff as an assistant coach in August 2024. A local standout at the high school, two-year college, and four-year university, Carrizosa and will assist with the Cougars' offensive and defensive systems while handling other administrative duties.
Carrizosa is an Arizona native that played varsity all four years of high school, leading both Greenway High School and Northwest Christian to deep postseason runs. As a senior at Greenway in 2015, she helped the team win the Arizona Division III State Championship with a 40-1 record. She earned Small Schools Player of the Year honors from the Arizona Republic/AZCentral, as well as Arizona State Tournament MVP, after tallying 372 kills and 221 digs. A three-time all-state honoree, she also led Northwest Christian to the Division IV state title as a sophomore and the semifinals as a junior, earning multiple All-Division and tournament MVP honors throughout her high school career.
At Phoenix College, she was a two-time NJCAA Division II All-Region I First Team and All-ACCAC Second Team selection, serving as team captain both years. As a sophomore in 2017, she averaged 4.31 kills and 3.94 digs per set, totaling 332 kills and 303 digs while recording multiple standout performances, including a career-high 32 kills and 21 digs vs. Yavapai. As a freshman in 2016, she posted 288 kills and 318 digs, highlighted by a 26-kill match against Scottsdale and a career-high 28 digs vs. Mesa. She transferred & finished her career at Norfolk State University serving as their team captain.
Carrizosa served as a volunteer assistant coach at South Mountain CC in 2018, helping lead the squad to an ACCAC title and a berth in the NJCAA Division II National Tournament.
