Todd Eastin Named 2025 ABCA/ATEC NJCAA DIv. II West Region Coach of the Year

South Mountain Community College baseball head coach Todd Eastin received the 2025 ABCA/ATEC NJCAA Division II West Region Coach of the Year award, the American Baseball Coaches Association and ATEC announced in late June. Eastin led the Cougars to an ACCAC Division II Regular Season Championship, the Region I Division II Tournament Championship, and the NJCAA Division II West District Championship, which resulted in a trip to the 2025 NJCAA Division II World Series. He also eclipsed 800 career victories during the 2025 campaign, a season in which SMCC finished 47-19 overall and 33-7 in ACCAC Division II play and received ACCAC Division II and NJCAA Division II West District Coach of the Year honors. 

The 2025 season was Eastin's 22nd as the baseball head coach and his 15th year as Athletic Director at SMCC. SMCC has won consecutive NJCAA Region I Tournament Championships, and their trip to Enid, Okla., for the 2025 World Series was SMCC's second appearance, and first since 2005, in the sport's pinnacle event.

In 2025, the Cougars boasted Luis Martin Romero, the ACCAC Division II Pitcher of the Year, and Raul Parada, the 2025 ACCAC Division II Player of the Year and an NJCAA and ABCA/Rawlings First Team All-American. Luke Jones, Bobby Pierce Jr., Joe Terranova, and Bryan Lorenz joined Parada and Martin Romero in receiving First Team All-ACCAC Division II honors. Sophomore relief pitcher Matt Elliot earned Second Team honors, and Martin Romero won an ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove. 

SMCC defeated Chandler-Gilbert 2-1 in the opening round of the Region I Division II Tournament and then swept Pima CC the following weekend to claim the title. The following weekend, SMCC took two of three games from South Arkansas College to win the NJCAA Division II West District Championship. The Cougars received the No. 3 seed in the Division II World Series but suffered tough losses to East Central CC (MS) and Southeastern CC (IA) to end their season. 

Kevin Soine, Lane Harvey, Justin Quinn, Kole Kaler, and Bill Zepada served as assistant coaches for Eastin and the Cougars in 2025.
