For the second consecutive week, SMCC basketball teams have produced the ACCAC’s Player of the Week award.

Freshman Katie Johnson and sophomore Dave Cuen received the award this week. One week earlier, Ashley Sparks and Tyrone Kelley, both sophomores, picked up the award.

Johnson netted 12 points with 17 rebounds in SMCC’s first win of the season Saturday night, a 68-59 win at Glendale. She scored 19 points with 18 rebounds in a loss to Mesa earlier in the week. Johnson shared the award this week with Scottsdale’s Katie Clark.

Cuen scored 18 points with eight rebounds and more importantly had the game-winning tip in at the buzzer in a 66-65 win over Mesa Wednesday night. He followed that with 22 points and five rebounds in Saturday’s win at Glendale.
