Freshman Gabe Plaza had a come from behind victory Thursday at Palm Valley Golf
Club during the Glendale Invitational. With a sigh of relief after a scorecard playoff he had won his first college event firing rounds of 71 71 to tie Mesa’s Brent Hook. Plaza calmly rolled in an eight footer for birdie on the 35th hole to get back into contention. “That putt was huge and I really wanted this tournament,” Plaza said.
For the fifth time during league play the Cougar Men’s golf team fell to conference foe, Scottsdale CC who won the tournament firing 305 & 284 in tough windy conditions. Both
Teams are currently ranked #1 and #2 on Golfstat as having the top freshman golfers
in the nation. The Cougars are now preparing for the Mesa Invitational to be played April 18-19th at Longbow Golf Club.
