June 25, 2007 - SMCC Women’s Soccer Open Try Outs this Thursday

The dawn of a new era for the Cougars’ women’s soccer team is underway and first-year coach Chris Carr is looking for soccer players to turn the program around.

Carr, who guided the Tempe Marcos de Niza High School girls’ soccer team to the Class 5A Division II state semifinals a year ago, will be hosting open tryouts for the SMCC soccer team on Thursday, June 28th from 8-10 am. Interested parties are asked to report to the northwest side of the SMCC soccer field by 8 a.m. to register.

“This is a unique opportunity for players that may have been overlooked and have not
found a soccer home to start their college career or are looking to extend their career past high school and club,” said Carr, who also doubles as Marcos de Niza’s girls’ soccer coach. “Scholarship money is available and I am looking for players to fill all positions.”

Anyone interested can either contact Carr by phone at 480-217-6995 or by email at Christopher.carr@smcmail.maricopa.edu (with a capital C).
