Sept 1, 2005 - Former Cougars go “Head-to-Head” in Professional Baseball

Josh Perrault and Luis Cota, both former pitchers at South Mountain CC, squared off against one another in the 2005 Midwest League (Class-A) All-Star Game.  Perrault a member of the South Bend Silverhawks (Diamondbacks) and Cota of the Burlington Bees (Royals), both had very successful 2005 seasons.  Perrault finished the year with a 7-2 record, 2.07 ERA, and 63 strikeouts.  Cota was named the Royals minor league pitcher of the year.  Both were named to their first All-Star game in professional baseball.  Perrault pitched for South Mountain CC in 2001 before spending two years at Arizona State University, then signing with the Arizona Diamondbacks in June of 2003.  Cota pitched for South Mountain CC in 2004 before signing with the Kansas City Royals that summer.
