The South Mountain Community College Men’s Golf Program donated their time this past week to assist with the tournament operations of the 2005 Gila River Classic. The PGA Tour and Nationwide Tour decided this week to donate all revenues and charitable contributions generated by the event to the Gulf Region victims affected by the recent hurricane season.
During the tournament, men’s golfers picked up trash, shuttled spectators, filled water coolers, and carried scoreboards for those players who made the 36 hole cut. “This was a great opportunity for our program to connect with our local community and at the same time watch the future players of the PGA Tour,” said Coach Brown. For those individuals who would like to make a contribution to assist in the relief efforts can visit PGA TOUR Charities and the US Golf Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund online at https://charity.pgatourhg.com.
