On Oct. 14, 2004, the SMCC Cougar baseball team held their annual Fall Scout Day at Grand Canyon University. The Scout Day is a work-out for the SMCC Baseball Team to showcase and market their talents to both college recruiters and professional scouts from all over the country. The 2004 workout proved to be the largest and most successful in the history of the school. As a result of the approximate 50 college recruiters and pro scouts, many scouts were referring to the Cougars Scout Day as the largest turnout they had seen in the Arizona Junior Colleges. The turnout is a testament to the quality of student athletes in the South Mountain CC baseball program.
