South Mountain Community College third baseman/pitcher CJ Retherford signed a National Letter of Intent to play for Arizona State University, beginning in the Fall of 2005. November 15th was the first day of the early signing period for NCAA baseball programs. Retherford was a 2nd Team All-Conference and All-Region player in the ACCAC last year. Offensively, he was the Cougars everyday third baseman, with a .313 batting average, 41 runs, 11 doubles, 2 home runs, 76 total bases, and 12 stolen bases. On the mound, Retherford compiled a 7-3 record, 2.25 ERA, and 75 strikeouts in 92 innings. He is a 2003 graduate and All-State baseball player from Hamilton High School in Chandler, Arizona. He plans on pursuing a degree in Business.
