May 29, 2005 - JUCO World Series - SMCC VS. Northeastern Oklahoma

The South Mountain Cougars came back strong today in Junior College Baseball World Series action, defeating Northeastern Oklahoma by a score of 9-4.

Starting Pitcher Dustin Brader held the Golden Norsemen down through seven innings allowing only seven hits and two runs to cross the plate. Luis Neiblas continued his hot batting streak going 3/3. Josh Tarnow hit well bringing in four RBI's while going 2/2. Dan Colella also batted 2/2 in the contest. South Mountain scored nine runs off of 11 hits and no errors.

Northeastern had four runs, ten hits, and three errors.

NE Oklahoma stayed quiet much of the game until the eighth inning where they scored three runs. Hopes of playing another day were on the minds of the team from Oklahoma but relief pitcher Joe Alvarez and the rest of the Cougars had a lot to say about that. Relaxed pitching and consistent defense sent the Golden Norsemen home and the South Mountain team into the next round where they will face Hutchinson Community College tomorrow at 10:00AM at Suplizio Field.
