Brian Gallimore enters his 9th year as assistant baseball coach at South Mountain Community College. Coach Gallimore serves as the Catching Coach as well as the first base coach on game days. He also assists with the team's Outfielders. Since joining the Cougar coaching staff on a regular basis, SMCC has posted a 180-116 record over the last 5 years. Prior to coaching at SMCC, Gallimore coached high school baseball and football in Arizona for 15 years.
Coach Gallimore has had three first team All-Conference and All-Region outfielders over the last four years. These accomplishments are more impressive because two of these athletes, Max Leon (2004) and Josh Tarnow (2005) had never played outfield prior to South Mountain CC. Leon is now playing center field in the Detroit Tigers organization and has reached the AAA level only two years after leaving SMCC. In 2008, Coach Gallimore helped outfielder Adam Bailey achieve 1st team All-Conference honors. Gallimore has coached four outfielders that have been professionally drafted and 8 that have signed scholarships to four-year universities.
Gallimore was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. He graduated from Glendale High School, along with former SMCC head baseball coach George Lopez and assistant coach Mark Wheeler. He coached high school baseball and football at several Phoenix high schools prior to joining SMCC. Gallimore began working with the SMCC program on a part time basis from 2001-2003. In the fall of 2003, he began coaching on a regular basis at SMCC. Gallimore currently resides in Glendale, AZ. with wife Leslie and sons Brantley (18), Brandon (17), Bryce (9), and Brylan (7).
